Lacey & Jake Lacey and Jake’s story is one of resilience, compassion, and the profound power of gratitude. Their journey together is rooted in love and strengthened by the challenges Lacey has faced since infancy. At just ten months old, Lacey survived a life-threatening heart infection, one that ultimately led to a heart transplant at 18 months old. That precious gift, from a little boy affectionately remembered as baby James, changed the course of her life. Even now, decades later, Lacey continues to honor his memory with humility and gratitude.
Life presented yet another challenge in 2006 when Lacey was diagnosed with kidney failure. True to the spirit of her story, hope arrived once again—this time through her brother Tyson, who donated a kidney to save her life. These life-altering experiences shaped not only her strength but also her calling to help others. Today, Lacey serves as Program Manager at Donate Life California, working with the very registry she helped create as a child. Her commitment to honoring organ donors and supporting their families has become her life’s work. Jake, a Respiratory Therapist, brings kindness, care, and comfort to his patients every day, making this couple a true embodiment of service and love.
Married in 2021 and now settled in a community they adore, Lacey and Jake feel ready to grow their family. After carefully considering the risks connected to Lacey’s medical history, they have chosen surrogacy as the healthiest path forward. After being turned down for several grants, they continued to hold onto hope—and today, we are proud to offer financial support toward their journey and honor the remarkable lives they’ve touched along the way.
Lacy & Franklin Lacy and Franklin’s story is a beautiful testament to devotion and unwavering hope. High-school sweethearts who will soon celebrate nine years of marriage, they have built a life grounded in love, stability, and the shared dream of becoming parents. For the last six years, they have tried to grow their family while navigating the emotional toll of month-after-month uncertainty. Despite the heartache, they’ve continued forward with patience and faith.
Now under the guidance of a fertility specialist, they are seeking answers and exploring a path that may bring long-awaited clarity: Invocell, a more affordable form of IVF that offers real promise. As a veteran, a licensed veterinary technician, and a machinist, they have worked hard to build a solid foundation, but infertility costs remain prohibitive and are not covered by insurance. Their courage in seeking support—and their hope for the future—deeply moved us.
Today, we are grateful to offer Lacy and Franklin financial assistance as they take this important next step. Their story reminds us that hope thrives with community support, and that every act of generosity brings a family one step closer to its greatest blessing.
Congratulations to both of our Q3 recipients. We are honored to walk beside you, and we cannot wait to see the beautiful chapters ahead.
